Specialist firm in estates and succession law, Varga is driven to achieve only the best. A well-established law firm based in Adelaide, they have built a reputation for offering trusted legal services. However, they sought a fresh brand identity that would reflect their evolving ethos—one that combines professionalism with a sense of approachability and calm. Working with MILCO, we collaborated on a new brand identity, marketing collateral, web design, and accompanying brand photography to modernise their brand while retaining their strong legal credentials.

PROJECT GOAL
Modernise Varga Lawyers and challenge the conventional design aesthetics typically associated with the legal industry.
The new identity needed to convey a holistic, warm and approachable law firm, welcoming clients into an environment where they felt cared for and leave better than how they walked in.
CHALLENGE
The legal industry is often perceived as formal, rigid, and traditional, with many law firms relying on conventional imagery such as navy blue colour schemes, gold accents, and symbols like scales of justice or pillars. For Varga Lawyers, this visual language did not reflect the warm, personal service they offer, especially in the sensitive area of Wills and Estates law, and it was something we wanted to avoid.
They wanted a brand that would be more inviting and softer while still conveying strength and professionalism. The challenge was to strike the right balance between modernity, femininity, and the professionalism expected from a top-tier law firm.

SOLUTION
To solve this challenge, we crafted a brand identity that is both contemporary and understated, while also challenging the visual norms of the legal profession. We introduced a new suite of colour-ways that move away from the typical blue and gold palette seen in the industry. Soft, muted tones were chosen to evoke calmness and approachability, with touches of earthy and neutral hues to balance sophistication with warmth. These colours create an inviting atmosphere that immediately puts clients at ease. We did continue with a deep navy blue for professionalism but when paired with these lighter, more feminine tones, it does not come across as heavy and masculine.
The new typography for Varga Lawyers is modern and refined. Clean, sans-serif typefaces were chosen for their legibility and contemporary feel, paired with an elegant typeface with varying line weight for headings and key messaging. This combination strikes the perfect balance between professionalism, femininity and accessibility.
The icon was designed to be minimalist and subtle - an abstract, geometric representation of ‘V’ and ‘L’ —simple, yet strong. It evokes stability and order without feeling overbearing.
We also photographed a series of warm and inviting brand images that portray a sense of openness and personal connection. These images complement the new brand identity and create a visual narrative that feels authentic, grounded, and trustworthy.
OUTCOME
The new brand identity for Varga Lawyers successfully encapsulates the firm’s values—strength, professionalism, and empathy—while offering a modern, more inviting visual language. It positions them as a law firm that understands the emotional complexities of Wills and Estates law and offers a calm, approachable, and expert service.
Used in combination with their new web design that focused on minimalist, clean design and effective brand collateral, we are excited to see Varga Lawyers continue to thrive and provide exceptional service to their clients with their new brand assets.
